QUARTER 1/ 2025: AGRICULTURAL, FORESTRY AND FISHERY EXPORTS REACH 21.15 BILLION USD

The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment informed that in the first 4 months of 2025, agricultural, forestry and fishery exports recorded significant growth, reaching a turnover of 21.15 billion USD, an increase of 10.7%.

Of which, the export of main agricultural products reached 11.6 billion USD, up 11.7%; forestry product export reached 5.56 billion USD, up 11.2%; aquatic product export reached 3.09 billion USD, up 13.7%; livestock product export reached 178 million USD, up 16.8%…

In the first 4 months of the year, there were 6 products with export value of over 1 billion USD, 2 products reached over 3 billion USD and most of the main products had export value higher than the same period last year.
Specifically, wood and wood product export reached 5.2 billion USD, up 5.8%; coffee export reached 3.78 billion USD, up 51.1%; rubber export reached 862 million USD, up 18.9%; shrimp export reached 1.24 billion USD, up 28.4%. Rice exports alone reached 1.75 billion USD, down 14.3%, and fruit and vegetable exports reached 1.62 billion USD, down 14.2%.
The average export price of some agricultural products increased by over double digits. Specifically, coffee prices reached 5,698 USD/ton, up 67.5%; rubber prices reached 1,935 USD/ton, up 30.2%; pepper prices reached 6,893 USD/ton, up 62.5%; cashew prices reached 6,808 USD/ton, up 27%. Rice prices alone reached 514 USD/ton, down 20%; tea prices reached 1,608 USD/ton, down 2.2%…
The United States, China and Japan continue to be the three largest export markets. Of which, the export value to the United States accounts for 20.5%, up 10.2%; China accounts for 17.1%, down 1.1% and Japan accounts for 7.5%, up 23.3%.
In terms of markets, in the first 4 months of 2025, the export value of agricultural, forestry and fishery products to a number of continents and markets increased sharply. Of which, exports to the Americas reached 4.83 billion USD, up 12.6%; Europe 3.48 billion USD, up 37.7%; Africa 648 million USD, up 78.4%; Asia alone reached 8.82 billion USD, down 1.3% and Oceania reached 263 million USD, down 2.6%.
Deputy Director of the Department of Planning and Finance (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) Tran Gia Long said that to achieve the target of exporting agricultural and forestry products of 65 billion USD or more, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment focuses on implementing 7 key tasks and solutions.
First, perfecting institutions and policies to serve the growth of the sector and the export of agricultural, forestry and fishery products; synchronously and effectively implementing resolutions, strategies, programs, projects, planning and development plans for the sector.
Second, continuing to promote the implementation of the sector’s structure, improving productivity, quality, added value of products and efficiency of production and business of agriculture, forestry and fishery.
Third, promoting administrative procedure reform to serve people and businesses.
Fourth, strengthening digital transformation, making breakthroughs in the application of science, technology transfer, and innovation.
Fifth, promoting the development of the domestic market and exports. For this task, the Ministry will promote trade, open markets, negotiate to remove technical barriers, trade barriers, open official exports of more agricultural products to traditional markets and markets with large total export turnover, such as: China, the United States, the EU, Russia, Brazil, Japan, Korea… Open potential markets (Halal food of Muslim countries, the Middle East, Africa…) with the motto of diversifying products, diversifying markets, gradually reducing informal exports across the northern border. Improve the effectiveness of negotiations, open markets, trade promotion, handle outstanding trade issues…
For the domestic market, the Ministry will have a clear roadmap and plan to promote domestic consumption of highly seasonal products, such as vegetables, flowers, fruits that are easily affected by natural conditions, weather, reducing quality; have solutions to stabilize the market, control price fluctuations of some agricultural products, aquatic products, animal feed, agricultural materials.
Sixth, the Ministry strongly promotes the sectors and fields that support agricultural, forestry and aquatic production.
Seventh, the Ministry continues to promote communication on agricultural development and environmental protection.
