BUILDING STANDARDIZED FARMING REGIONS TO ELEVATE AGRICULTURAL EXPORTS

Gia Lai’s Agricultural Products Reach Global Standards

To tap into China’s billion-people market and other international destinations, Gia Lai’s agricultural sector—especially in the western region—is being standardized from farming zones to packaging and traceability. The proactive efforts of local businesses, supported by the government, are creating a sustainable export ecosystem and elevating Gia Lai’s agricultural brand.

Many Vietnamese exporters have faced difficulties entering China due to the lack of planting codes and poor supply chain management. Recognizing this, Gia Lai has taken strong measures to meet global standards. With 977,000 hectares of farmland, including 753,000 hectares of fertile red basalt soil, the province is ideal for high-value crops such as coffee, banana, durian, and passion fruit.

To date, Gia Lai has granted 248 planting area codes and 40 certified packaging facilities with a daily capacity of 1,800 tons. These achievements mark a major step toward standardized, officially recognized exports—reducing risks from informal trade and strengthening Gia Lai’s global competitiveness.
