Mango, pistachio, pineapple, and coconut are Vietnamese fruit and vegetable products favored by the European market, with turnover in the first 4 months of the year increasing by 41-200% compared to the same period last year.
The total export turnover of Vietnamese fruit and vegetables to the European Union (EU) in the first 4 months of this year reached 132 million USD, up 33% over the same period last year, according to Customs data.
Of which, mango led with 27.6 million USD, up 54%; pistachio 17 million USD, up 90%. Pineapple exports to this market also increased 3 times over the same period, with 11 million USD; coconut increased by 41% (10 million USD).
The Netherlands is the market that buys the most Vietnamese fruit and vegetables in the EU bloc, nearly 37 million USD after 4 months. This market accounts for nearly 28% of the total export turnover of fruit and vegetables to the EU. Vietnamese fruit and vegetable exports to Poland also doubled compared to the same period; to Spain, 83%. The German and French markets also recorded double-digit growth.

The tariff advantage from the Vietnam – EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) also contributes significantly. “This agreement has eliminated or reduced tariffs on many types of fruit, creating a competitive advantage for Vietnam compared to countries that do not have a trade agreement with the EU,” said Mr. Nguyen.
Last year, Vietnam’s agricultural exports to the EU reached a record 4.21 billion USD. Of which, the fruit group grew by double digits thanks to strong recovery in consumer demand.
